Week 1 Jason Kelly

For week one the artist that caught my eye is Jason Kelly. He creates his art with digital medley. He is a very simple artist as you can tell by this picture. In his comments he simply states "This series is a medley of styles and textures which reflect my  enjoyment of transition. I hope it also demonstrates my gratitude for some of the influences i have had."
I choose this picture by this Jason titled "Unknown Soldier" because it can have so many different meanings to it. A very simple piece by a simple artist. Its a picture that only has one "object" that can say a million things. I believe the boots signify the boots that has been filled by so many of our men/women that have gone over to fight for us. The shadow showing him saluting shows his pride for fighting for his home and keeping us safe. The background and setting of the picture says so much, its dark, but in the corner shows a little peek of light. Almost suggesting that although some soldiers have been forgotten, lost, not commended for all that they do. Somehow there is still someone out there that who remembers, celebrates lost lives, and honoring each and every soldier out there.

  1. Nice choice and excellent reflection on his work. It is hard to be elegantly simple... yet that is what makes it so powerful.

  2. The boots reflects a larger shadow than the boots; I wonder what's in them *-*..
