Week 3: MOCA (kheng2013)

MOCA website (Museum of Computer Art)

Interestingly, I like this display of work. I may not have assembled the flowers together the way this artist did, but it brings it's own feel in a old-fashioned, yet fresh way. The artist of this piece is Ariana Bauer. She mentions that her works presents "living somewhere between our world and an era long past." Her pieces is to take us on a journey into another time. She created this image by "using a technique that combines meticulously executed photographs with digital painting." It is what she calls a "digital mixed media." I agree that Ariana Bauer's creation does bring viewers to another time that may not be in the present time, which is pretty cool. This is a skillful way for her to get a way sometimes. Movies can take us to another place that is not in our current surrounding, but art pieces can do the same too. Below is the image:

Ariana Bauer: "My work is feminine, abstract, soft, often pink and purple, and constantly contradictory."

Week 3- Michael P. Ammel

The Artist I chose for this week was Michael P. Ammel "The Friendly Merger". Mr. Ammel is a native German digital artist. I chose him because it was very interesting to find out that he learned art on his own and that his  creations are used to communitate his messages. The artist uses different technologies such as Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Paintshop Pro to create his images.

Pam  is a self taught painter and has been painting for the past 20 years. She has begun to sell her art work in galleries, online, and gift stores. She uses many tools and media that includes molten, pigmented wax, pastels, acrylics and digital media.

I enjoy Pam's work these are different creations of flowers  they are very abstract. I especially love the flower below it almost looks as tho its on fire, with a body of water under it. Very interesting.  These flowers were created using digital software: Apophysis and Photoshop.

Week 3 MOCA- Carole K. Boyd

For my week 3 MOCA artist I have chosen Carole K. Boyd.
These pieces are created entirely on the computer.  She uses the Microsoft paint program for her works.  She does not alter the paintings or use filters to create the textures, which makes her works very unique in the field of digital art.  Her subjects include animals, landscapes and still life with a variety of themes including Native American works.

Week 3- Rene Brady

Rene Brady

“It is vital for every artist to find a way to express creatively.

"In a relay of 2D & 3D software, most images begin in the computer, no outside influence what-so-ever. Occasionally, photographs of the environment, or original works of art, are digitized and used as a background or texture in a 3D scene. The 2D paint program is used to create new images as well as enhance and manipulate the photographs. "I've been an artist/writer my whole life. As with other artists, life without creativity is void. Living in the Fort Lauderdale area of Florida, I am currently working on a series of works combining both my digital art and poetry."

The way the artist mixed software really worked well. The piece makes me think of tranquility. It makes you think of a hot summer’s night by the water. It has blends of light and dark areas. I like the way the moon shines on the water. The flowers add color to the dark banks.
