Week 4: MOCA (kheng2013)

MOCA website (Museum of Computer Art)

Hope everyone is safe in this crazy weather (Blizzard Nemo)... The picture below is called "three waterfalls." It's hazy, but quite nice. Waterfalls usually represent cleansing, freshness, and overflow. I think it's an important part of nature. The artist, Wanda S. Anderson doesn't say anything about the meaning behind her work, but the image does capture a certain beauty on the earth. A lot of times, when people look for vacation spots or getaway places, they look for places that are surrounded by large bodies of water or waterfalls like the picture. Sometimes, I kind of wonder why these kind of things bring a level of peace and calmness to the soul. I guess that's why people are often drawn to these places. Though Wanda Anderson doesn't say much, she does mention how the work was created: "All of these drawings are done free-handed on the computer--there is no copying or pasting in the drawings." It's a blurry image, but it's part of the effects in this particular artwork. Below is the image:

  1. This probably started off as a straight photograph. The artist then imported it into a program like paint, and re-rendered it using a variety of natural media brushes located in the program.
